Young Lions Competitions Turkey 2023
Eligibility and General Rules
- The Young Lions Competition is open to everyone if they fit within the age and profession criteria.
- Teams cannot be rejected entry because they are not part of an association, professional body or collective.
- Each team must be made up of two professionals.
- Each team member must be 30 years and under. (Born on or after 23 June 1992.)
- The team partners do not have to be employed at the same company.
- Freelancers and in-house creative teams from client companies will be accepted in relevant categories.
- Teams are only able to compete in one competition at Cannes Lions even if the dates of the competitions do not overlap.
- Teams that won the competition in previous years may compete in Young Lions Competitions Turkey 2023.
- Teams must submit their material anonymously bearing only their team number and team members’ names. Any reference to their company names will be a reason for disqualification.
- Teams who do not submit their work by the competition deadline or otherwise do not adhere to the rules set herewith may be disqualified at the Cannes Lions Representatives discretion.
- The competition client can be a Charity/NGO or a commercial client.
- Please note that all entries are final and not eligible for a refund.
- Teams must be able to submit and present their entry in English.
- Teams have no more than 24 hours from the date and time of their briefing to create their work.
- Entry fee is €200 per team.
- The last day of submissions is April 5, 2023.
Digital
To be eligible to compete in the Digital competition the team must be made up of two young professional, aged between 18 and 30 on 23 June 2023, working in creative communications/advertising/digital agencies. Freelancers will be accepted to compete in this competition. In-house creative teams from client companies will be accepted to compete in this competition.
Teams will be tasked with creating an integrated digitally led campaign and expected to use led executions and technology behind them to solve the brief.
Who is it for?
- Social media managers/Creative technologists/UX designers/Digital producers/Digital designers
Deliverables
Teams are asked to create a digital-led campaign. The objective is to show how the power of digital technology can answer the Competition Partner’s brief and provide a creative solution aligned with the digital revolution (online and/or mobile).
Each team will be submitting an A3 format entry that showcases their digital campaign. This must include: Three digital strategies that define your campaign. These may include the use of social media, or any other digital led execution.
A four-part written submission:
- Campaign summary (150 words)
- Creative insight – How can digital be utilised to activate the three phases of awareness, affiliation and action to meet the overall objective? Please consider the varying target markets as part of this. (150 words)
- Solution – What are the platforms, technologies, and tools you have chosen and why? Social media platform recommendations and rationale per phase considering the varying target markets. (150 words)
- How does it work? – How does your digital solution answer the brief and solve the problem faced by the client? Description of the assets, formats and messaging that could be created across each phase for social media and any other digital components recommended. (150 words)
Film
To be eligible to compete in the Film competition the team must be made up of two young professional, aged between 18 and 30 on 23 June 2023, working increative communications/advertising/digitalagencies. Freelancers will be accepted to compete in this competition. In-house creative teams from client companies will be accepted to compete in this competition.
Teams will be given 48 hours to film original footage and edit a 60 second commercial.
Who is it for?
- Art directors/Producers/Film makers/Creatives
Deliverables
A 60 second original footage film
A two-part written submission (300 words):
- A short summary of what happens in the film (150-words)
- Cultural/context information (explanation of any cultural terms, references or viewing context which needs to be explained), if any.
Marketers
To be eligible to compete in the Marketers competition the team must be made up of two young professionals aged between 18 and 30 on 23 June 2023, working for client companies that engage the services of advertising and communications companies (i.e. Unilever, Coca-Cola etc.) We do not accept advertising agencies to compete in the Young Marketers competition. Freelancers are not eligible to compete in YoungMarketers.
Original, engaging creative work starts with a strong brief. Teams must work to come up with a concise, direct and effective brief – the kind that will clearly act as a creative inspiration for an agency.
Marketing competition is the ultimate test of teamwork and ability to think under pressure. It also gives the team members a great opportunity to raise their profile among industry leaders and prove themselves on a global stage.
Who is it for?
- Marketing managers
- Brand managers/Category/product managers/Client services managers/Channel marketing managers
- Brand Marketer working in-house for a single client (not an agency)
Deliverables
Teams will be asked to create a product/service that answers a brief given by the Competition Partner. The competitors will be representing the organisation they currently work for, and must create a product/service that is relevant to their industry.
A PDF presentation of no more than 10 slides describing your product/service.
One slide that visually summarises your idea. The summary slide should be included in your main presentation, and will count towards the 10 slide count.
A two-part written submission:
- Strategy – Target audience, planning and approach (150 words)
- Idea and insight – This includes your market research and data gathering. (150 words)
** Each team will present their work to the jury. The presentation should be no longer than 5 minutes followed by Q&A as deemed necessary by the jury.
Print & Outdoor
To be eligible to compete in the Print & Outdoor competition the team must be made up of two young professional, aged between 18 and 30 on 23 June 2023, working increative communications/advertising/digital agencies. Freelancers will be accepted to competein this competition In-house creative teams from client companies will be accepted to compete in this competition.
The competing teams will be required to produce a print ad in a certain time frame, following guidelines set by a brief given to them.
Who is it for?
- Art directors/Producers/Copywriters/Creatives
Deliverables
Teams will be asked to create a print Key Visual in response to the brief. Each team will be submitting a single entry which includes: One A3 landscape double page spread print ad (42 x 29.7cm)
A two-part written submission (300 words):
- Cultural/context information – Include any cultural terms, references, or context which you feel need explanation. (150 words)
- Strategy and insight – Explain the insight and strategy behind your work, including the target audience and how your print ad answers the brief. (150 words)
